Q: We are trying to update our guidelines for DMPA injections. For an initial start, if a woman has her normal menstrual period, do we still need to do a pregnancy test before administering the Depo injection?
|If a menstruating woman is starting to use Depo injections as her contraceptive and is within 7 days of the start of a period she may receive her shot without a pelvic exam or a pregnancy test and she need not use backup contraception.|
Did you get that first Depo injection? Where do things stand today, May 26, 2015?
