Q        Why am I bleeding after my boyfriend and I had sex and the condom broke?     Â
A:       Have you been using any other type of birth control other than condoms? If yes, what? If not, you should get Plan B emergency contraceptive pills at once and take them; however, this must be done within 5 days following the broken condom.
| During orgasm, the female experiences a series of muscular contractons in the outer third of the vagina. The first contractions are four-fifths of a second apart. Subsequent contractions are less intense and come at greater intervals. The number of contractions may range from three to twelve. The uterus also contracts rhythmically.
Muscles of the neck, face and abdomen sometines contract severely enough to produce muscular aches the next day. In a relatively mild orgasm, the woman’s introitus, labia minora, clitoral area and vaginal passage experience contractions. In more very intense orgasms, all the voluntary muscles of the abdomen may contract. The series of “rhythmic contractions of the perineal muscles, uterus, and in some women, the lower third of the vagina†[Youngkin-1994, Women’s Health, P.62] may occur several times for a woman if she has several orgasms. If there is already a small amount of blood in the uterus, contractions of the uterus may cause expulsion of this blood which may be experienced as a small amount of vaginal bleeding. If a woman has a uterine fibriod just beneth the endometrium (uterine lining) if could bleed at the time of uterine contractions associated with orgasma. And if a woman has a low-grade pelvic infection (endometriosis) then orgasms with uterine muscle contractions could lead to vaginal bleeding. The same would be true for a woman with endometrial cancer or a polyp. |
